Graphic 45 Once Upon a Springtime Box

Recently I had a good friend's daughter turn one. I'm one of those sentimental type peoples, and I wanted to make her something that she would have for years to come. Her mother is a very creative person and adores anything girly and vintage. So I chose to use Graphic 45's Once upon a Springtime stack.

I adore this stack because its the vintage fairies. Like you would see in old story books.

I started with just a plain wood box that I purchased at Michaels. I wanted something that wasn't going to be difficult to cover. I sanded the box and painted it with a gesso primer. After that had dried I sanded the box again and put two coats of a sage green paint on the inside and outside of the box, letting dry between each coat.

After it had dried I selected my papers and cut the ones for the background down to size. I cut them so it would show the green paint on the edges. I then used Mod Podge to adhere the paper to the box. I even covered the bottom in the pink floral paper. While it dried I cut out all the images I wanted to use to decorate the box.

I used Mod Podge to adhere all my images. I let them dry, and then put a thin layer of Mod Podge on top to seal them down.

After everything was dry I cut the top off one of my bottles of stickles that was near empty. I used a paintbrush to apply the stickles to the areas I wanted. I mainly used it to glitter the fairy wings, but I used it in a few other places too, like the skirt on one of the rabbits. Once that was dry I used glossy accents over all the areas I had glittered. It really made the fairy wings stand out!

I even decorated the inside of the box. The inside has glitter and glossy accents as well.

My friend simply adored the box! I spread my time out on this project and it took me about two weeks to make it. But it you did it all at once I would say about two days will all the drying time.

Enjoy!-

Recycle Packaging from Graphic 45 Staples!

While I was cleaning up all my art supplies the other day, I found the part of the packaging from the Graphic 45 drawer pulls I had used in one of my recent up cycles. I almost threw it away when the thought occurred to me that I should use it as a tag! So I set it aside until I had some free time to work on it. So this............. Became this...... I just love the way this turned out! I had the Artisan Style paper sitting in my collection for awhile and decided this would be the perfect thing to use it on! For detailed instructions just check out my snapguide: Check out How to Recycle Graphic 45 Packaging With Artisan Style by Altina Robinson on Snapguide . Thanks for stopping by!! -Altina R.

Crazy Busy Summer

Hello all!! So this last month has been crazy busy. I have found some time to work on cards in amongst everything I have had going on, bot not much else! Summer is always rather busy for me, and this last summer has been no exception. Hopefully coming this fall I will start making video tutorials!! YAY!! I have spent the last few months researching how to do them, camera mounts, etc. I have limited space to film in so I've spent a lot of time trying to get it all sorted out. Which has meant my larger projects have taken a back burner. I also took all three of Tim Holtz's Creative Chemistry, so I have been branching out and trying new things. Exciting! Thanks for stopping by, and stay tuned for new projects coming soon!! -Altina R.
