The Odd Whimsy

So it's been almost a year since I posted :p as you can see I am not so great with the upkeep on a blog. But through this past year I have been thinking about what direction I want my life to go in. I recently turned 21, and I also got to go to NYC which had been a dream of mine since I was 8. And let me tell you, NYC was very inspiring to me. I have long wanted to do something in the creative world, and am considering getting a degree in graphic design. But for now while I start my journey I hope to keep up with this blog a little better for my personal creative outlet. So now for a recent project :) I have recently tried my had at card making, and while I'm still not positive I like it, it does help get my creativity satisfied when I can't work on a larger project. Sorry its been a bit since I've posted! With the 4th of July and all its been a bit crazy around here. I haven't done any layouts, but I am currently working on a mini album for my best friend. I am using the Graphic 45 Policy Envelope album for the base. Its a bit of a challenge covering the pages, but it will be really pretty once I am all finished. Pictures to come soon! -Altina R.

I am a HUGE lover of music. I will listen to just about anything, but my favorite music is rock. Last October I got to see the band Anberlin live when they came close to my hometown. I was so excited! They were fantasic live! I have SO many concert pictures from the many concerts I have been too, but I have a hard time scrapbooking them since not a lot of paper goes with rock concerts. While doing another layout using DCWV's Mod-Retro stack, I came across this really awesome page that looked like a vinyl record. Anberlin actually released their last two albums to vinyl and I own one.  My brother gave my dad a record player for his birthday, and the sound of a vinyl is so cool! So that memory along with this paper inspired me to do an Anberlin page. The gold paper is from the DCWV Tradewinds Cardstock stack. I saw the gold and thought "gold record." Hi there! I'm Altina and I am 20 years old. I have been doing crafts for as long as I can remember. I grew up in a family of crafters since my mom and both of my grandmothers craft. When I was little most of what my family did was quilting and sewing. One of my grandmothers taught me how to embroider when I was about six. I loved it instantly. The same grandmother also taught me to crochet when I was eight. I taught myself to knit when I was fourteen, and my other grandmother taught me to quilt and gave me a sewing machine when I was fifteen. I started painting when I was seventeen. My love of scrapbooking (and the start of an obession with paper) started shortly before I turned sixteen. I had recently moved, and while reconnecting with some old friends I discovered scrapbooking. My friends loved to scrapbook and make cards, and what they did was beautiful. I fell in love very quick!
