Mixed Media Canvas with Art Alchemy and Dylusions

Happy Friday!!

Today I’m sharing an 8x8 Canvas I have done using some of the lovely Dylusions Sprays and Art Alchemy paints and waxes.

I knew I wanted to use a photo I had taken on my last visit with my best friend and beyond adorable niece (not at all biased right?) I chose to do the photo in black and white as I wanted to use warm tones for the canvas, and the colors in the photo would have clashed.

I started out with an 8x8 Canvas I got from Michaels. I went with one with the deep sides so I would have more room to play, and I love the depth it helps give to my art.

I then began using random items from my stash.

I built the piece up until I was happy with it.

Not gonna lie, it was quite hard to cover this up!! I may have to recreate it and leave it be next time.

Then I covered the piece in about three layers of white gesso.

Once the gesso was dry I began to spray it with Dylusions Spray inks in Cherry Pie, Rose Quartz, and Pure Sunshine, until I was happy with the colors and how it blended. I used my heat tool to dry the inks.  When it was completely dry I used Art Alchemy Wax in Old Silver to highlight the leaves and the metal frame. I then used Metallique paint in White Pearl for the gemstones, and Sparks paint in Unicorn Hair to highlight the flowers and some of the beads.

Using some Matte Gel Medium I took a small paintbrush and randomly dabbed some onto the canvas and then used some of the gold Finnabair micro beads.

All finished!! I am absolutely in love with how this turned out, and can not wait to use more of my Dylusions sprays on my mixed Media pieces.

Thanks for stopping by!

Recycle Packaging from Graphic 45 Staples!

While I was cleaning up all my art supplies the other day, I found the part of the packaging from the Graphic 45 drawer pulls I had used in one of my recent up cycles. I almost threw it away when the thought occurred to me that I should use it as a tag! So I set it aside until I had some free time to work on it. So this............. Became this...... I just love the way this turned out! I had the Artisan Style paper sitting in my collection for awhile and decided this would be the perfect thing to use it on! For detailed instructions just check out my snapguide: Check out How to Recycle Graphic 45 Packaging With Artisan Style by Altina Robinson on Snapguide . Thanks for stopping by!! -Altina R.

Graphic 45 Design Team Audition 2016

So it's that awesome time of the year when Graphic 45 has their design team auditions! So my name is Altina Robinson, and I am 24 years old from Springfield, MO. I was introduced to Graphic 45 when I was I believe 16, and the Steampunk Debutante collection was phasing out (I have both the 12x12 and the 8x8 in my stash.) I have been into arts and crafts since I was a little kid, and was introduced to paper crafting when I was about 15. It started out with scrapbooking, which turned into card making, which turned into art journaling, and well, you get the point. So for my first project I found a Tim Holtz mini clipboard at Michaels and knew I HAD to do something with it. So for this project I used the new Voyage Beneath the Sea collection. I love this collection ( I LOVE steampunk) and I love all the bright colors. For my second project I made a birthday card with Botanical Tea for a friend. I am a bit obsessive about my scraps, so I have them all organized by c...
